Updated 5/10/2017.

Coaches: Kirk Swanson (MSHSL Certified Head Coach, NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach), Jennifer Swanson, John Kippley, David Binsfeld, and Kurt Detloff. Contact us if you'd like to help--especially for sprints/throws/jumps (horizontal).

Captains’ Practice: February 27 & 28 (4:00-5:00 P.M.) and March 9 & 10 (4:30-5:30 P.M.). Contact captain Gus Spencer for locations. Pre-season attendance is optional.

Official Season: March 13 – May 30, 2017. Junior high season is slightly shorter; Varsity Section and State qualifiers go longer depending on individual advancement (see calendar below).

PRACTICES: To be considered for meets, 75%+ attendance is required (varsity lettering standards are higher), plus one day of running on your own Fri/Sat. We are offering flexibility but expect JV/Varsity (high school) athletes to train 5x/week (Junior High 4x/week). If your schedule requires you to miss a day of practice, you must complete the assigned workout sometime that day and report it to the coaches via eTRaXC before the next practice. Your choice of events will depend on performance *and* logging your workouts. See team handbook for further explanation.

2017 Practice Schedule:

  • Mondays 6:00–8:00 P.M. @Rockford High School track
  • Tuesdays 4:00–5:30 P.M. @Hanover City Hall/Settler’s Park (11250 5th St NE, Hanover)
  • Wednesdays 4:00–5:30 P.M. @WEST building (Jesus People Church, 10925 Trail Haven Rd, Rogers) Wednesday practices will be held at 4:15 (after classes) until 4/26 when we move to Hanover Settler’s Park.
  • Thursdays 6:00–8:00 P.M. @Rockford High School track
  • "Optional Fridays" 4:00–5:30 P.M. *Not held every week.* @Swansons, for those choosing Friday as their required Day 5 and looking for friends to train with.

Events: Running, relays, hurdles, throws (shot/discus). Jumps (long/triple) if we get a coach for it. JV/Varsity running events span distances from 100m to 3200m (2 mile). Junior high races go up to the 1600m (1 mile).

Team Schedule (see GoogleCalendar below):
JV/Varsity runners are *not* required to attend Junior High meets but are encouraged to do so, and vice versa. Workout instructions will be posted in advance so you can run on your own that day. Track meets can last 3-4 hours (occasionally longer for big high school invitationals) depending on the number of teams; junior high meets are typically on the shorter end.
